Review of The Killer Inside Me (2010) by Kinikia L — 08 Oct 2010
It's hard to really pin down the things to like or dislike about this movie, because there's a lot of both. It's beautifully shot, well acted and genuinely intriguing. However, it has some pacing issues, character issues and a silly ending.
Now, a lot of critics complained about the emotional context, but I felt the emotional distance helped with the characterization of Lou, the main character. He looks at the things he did, as well as the people around him, with a cold disdain.
I wish it wasn't so by-the-numbers on a film noir standpoint, but that's not really a reason to dislike it. But however grim, it wasn't as violent or overly sexual as I had heard (with the exception of the first killing, which was uncomfortable and brutal).
Overall it's likable, but it probably wouldn't make anyone's top 10.
