Review of The Insider (1999) by Thomas B — 11 May 2018
*****.
I'm trying to come up with flaws - anything that I didn't like - and I'm really struggling. This is a perfectly-executed, fully immersive, wholly entertaining - and important - movie. Al Pacino and Russel Crowe work magic, delivering one of the best performances of their respective careers, and Mann has crafted a near-perfect script that deviates from his usual subject material, yet has strangely and commendably managed to keep his unique flair. If I had to come up with a flaw, I guess the ending felt a little too quick - but that's the nittiest of all nit picks. I really don't have anything else to say - a highly under-appreciated thriller which deserves a bigger audience.
