Review of The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus (2009) by Eden R — 30 Jul 2011
Before I even start this review, I want to say that I gave this a 100% because it is probably the best ode to Heath Ledger ever made. The director takes this film, which was not suppose to be all about Heath (although the plot does revolve around him) and turns it into something respectable just because of how he finished the project without the main star.
With that said, this is a wonderful tale as you watch people battle their own corruption for a more pleasant sort of life. There's a bet, a crazed and enchanted world, and a mysterious man. What more do you need to know without the plot being ruined?
I've watched this movie multiple times, and if not because I love the dedication it gives to Heath Ledger, then because of the story. Watch this movie for the unique story and brilliant use of cinema or watch it to see the last thing Heath Ledger was ever in.
