Review of The Hound of the Baskervilles (1939) by Andy C — 24 Jan 2011
A fairly faithful adaptation of one of my favourite stories, there are a few slight changes to the story are made to make it fit better as a film. Sherlock Holmes is presented very well though Watson is presented more comedic and bumbling than he does in the books, I can see why this tweak of the character is made for comedic value but given the faithfulness to the text of some other parts of the characters and their details kind of makes it a bit of a shame.
Still an enjoyable classic movie and second only to reading the excellent stories.
