Review of The Harder They Come (1972) by Jon H — 19 Aug 2012
Splendid collectors item. If you like music then you should like the music of Jimmy Cliff and his Jamaican compatriots of the early 70's, a real golden age for reggae music. This film is more than just a homage to mr Cliff but actually a half decent storyline of Ivan, the talented Reggae star frustrated by the abusive record company not paying fairly for his hit record.
He then proves that "You can get it if you really want" by going on a rebelious rampage "Kowalski" style. The soundtrack is the jewel of the film though.
