Review of The Great Raid (2005) by Mark G — 04 Aug 2007
Criminally underrated war film. This film deserves to be up there with the likes of Saving Private Ryan. It would also serve as a perfect companion piece to Black Hawk Down. Based on true events this film is great because it gets the little details right.
Also, this movie is one half prison drama as we see the harsh environment these prisoners live in. A story where meticulous planning and strong intelligence gathering is rewarded. Fine performances all around, especially James Franco.
