Review of The Gore Gore Girls (1972) by Jason J — 16 Sep 2010
One of the funniest (intentional or otherwise) horror movies I've seen. The extremely thin plot is about a series of murders of topless go-go dancers in strip clubs. A cute reporter and a 2nd rate sleazy private detective team up to try to solve the crimes as the police who are shown to be completely thick and stupid don't have a clue.
The private detective Abraham Gentry stands to make a neat $50,000 if he cracks the case - what a character - so flamboyant and funny that he kept my interest. The acting is atrocious in the movie and the soundtrack is well weird to say the least.
The gore is also pretty lame and it's obvious that dummies are used in the scenes when girls' faces are being mutilated. If not for the dry humour in this movie this would have been given 1 star or less.
