Review of The Girl in the Spider's Web (2018) by Max R — 11 Nov 2018
I saw the movie today and found it to be worthy and then some of both the novels by Larsen and the films made from them. It was absolutely gripping! I felt as if I was going home from the very first moment and I haven't even thought of the novels or the films for years.
The atmosphere was terrific! The scoring was absolutely perfect. The elements of the story were many and well nuanced, all being knit together in an incredibly pleasing manner. It had all of the violent complexity you could ask for always in support of a moving and fascinating theme! I thought I would miss Rooney Mara (and she was great), but Claire Foy portrayed all of the tough characteristics of Lisbeth wonderfully.
The Blomkvist characterization was very intelligently evolved from his appearance in the last "episode". The film had half a dozen strong characters each with their own agendas that collided in a fascinating way! Best film I've seen in ages!
