Review of The Frighteners (1996) by Adriano B — 29 Jan 2010
Ghost comedy with a bit of thrilling, a lot of dark humour, it manages to balances both its souls; spectres are real undead, but phantoms of past movies and pop-cultures, too, and this gave The Frighteners a meta-filmic edge over other similar movies.
It is, by chance, the most Timburtonian movie by Peter Jackson. Probabilly Burton knows this and thanks with Sleepy Hollow (many similarities, plotwise). Jeffrey Combs great as ever.
