This should not be judged against Citizen Kane, The Godfather, or Casablanca. Instead, compare it to The Prince, Leviathan, or Wealth of Nations. It is that important of a political document, but don't take that to mean it's boring.
McNamara is wise, witty, and all-too-lucid about his role in history.
