Review of The Fighter (2010) by Jacob B — 02 Jan 2013
Extraordinary in every sense of the word. This is not just another color-by-numbers biography, this film is actually thought provoking and real with a true sense of fulfillment. The performances are the heart of the film, namely the chemistry between Bale and Wahlberg.
Christian Bale hasn't thoroughly impressed me since 'The Prestige', but he totally blew me away this tour de force. He steals the show with his blissful ignorance, good intentions, and beautifully written dialogue.
Mark Wahlberg is great but in a different way. He has a way of impressing you the whole way through but not with his dialogue or his physical acting but rather with his attention to detail and hiss devotion to the character.
The good performances practically ooze out of the wood work; Amy Adams,.
