Review of The Eyes of My Mother (2016) by Sam G — 29 Mar 2017
The cinematography is strikingly beautiful, the editing razor sharp, and the two are married together with a perfect (albeit haunting) soundtrack to create a buzzing atmosphere of dread-soaked wonder. Our monster, Francisca, is fascinating thanks to both Kika Magalhaes brilliant performance and Pesce's bare, yet insightful script.
Clocking in at a lean 77 minutes it will however undoubtedly feel longer thanks to the white-knuckle intensity of the first 20 minutes and the disturbing madness that follows for the film's remaining runtime.
Simply a masterpiece of modern horror.
