Review of The Darjeeling Limited (2007) by Nathaniel M — 02 Jun 2014
I seem to find myself firmly in the minority here, but The Darjeeling Limited is my favorite of Anderson's films. He perfectly balances the melancholy with his trademark charming quirk, resulting in a sensitively humanistic (sorry to regurgitate that word, again) work.
I love the idea that serious issues can be explored in over-the-top, hyperbolic fashion. The funeral scene perhaps best epitomizes what I love and have said about the movie, and is one of the most striking scenes I can recall in recent movie history.
Really, The Darjeeling Limited is wonderful if you allow yourself to be captured by what makes us emotive beings.
