Review of The Darjeeling Limited (2007) by Shawn G — 25 Jun 2013
Love love love this movie. Every time I watch it I come away with another insight. Yes, at first watch you may just think it's another quirky comedy. But there are so many subtle good things. The movie is rich with dichotomies and symmetries which balance each other out.
The process of grief is addressed in a serious way in this movie, as is love (the less then good side) - yet it doesn't make you feel heavy, it makes you feel full of life and happy. I can't even get into it without going over every awesome detail, but for visual interest alone the movie is astounding.
Awesome soundtrack. Schwartzman, Wilson, and Brody have this excellent chemistry. The writing is both entertaining and smart. This is in my top 5 all time favorite movies, probably number one. People who don't like it just don't have the awareness needed to pickup on all the details.
