GREAT Western coming of age story!. The Cowboys was filmed on location in Colorado and New Mexico, John Wayne is Wil Andersen, an aging rancher who can't find local cowboys to run his cattle drive.
A goldrush takes away Will Anderson's(Wayne's) Cowhands and he is forced to find help to bring his cows to market. Reminded by a friend that Will was only 13 when he went on his first cow-drive.
He is talked into hiring on school boys for the 400 mile drive. Hire schoolboys, who will be forced to become men fast when they're attacked by a cattle-rustling gang (headed by Bruce Dern in full psycho mode).
