Review of The Conspiracy (2012) by Paul M — 21 Jan 2015
Cool idea, but the mockumentary format and acting style comes across as tacky. The filmmaker seems more intent on explaining conspiracy mythology than telling a unique and interesting story. The third act, clearly inspired by Alex Jones and Bohemian Grove, is absolutely thrilling despite the poor setup - it's here you realise everything up until this point should have been through the lens of 'aren't these people nutcases'.
The ending is a bad idea, tacked on, and really makes you realise just how waifer-thin the whole concept was.
