Review of The Congress (2013) by Tor M — 12 Nov 2014
Very creative meta film with some lovely usage of music. We get some trippy animations and overall this feel pretty original to me.
Plenty of movie referances and other fun stuff as it takes a unique view on the future of film. A mixture of "Being John Malkivich" and "A Scanner Darkly" with some sort of futuristic touch I would say.
Sadly it turns into a mess, trying to be extra artful or something, but it does not work for me. I feel it goes on for long and I'm feeling a bit tired of it after 90 minutes or so.
Ari Folman's "Waltz with Bashir" must be seen soon. This was mostly pleasent stuff, but it was a bit long and got messier along with it's playtime.
6.5 out of 10 sniffs.
