Who knew that Zurich was a gay mecca in the 1950s? That's about the only interesting piece of information in THE CIRCLE. Unfortunately, the film's mix of documentary and fiction (or re-enactment) just don't mesh very well taking away from both running storylines.
The couple at the center of this all simply never captivates or engages, making for one very flat film experience.
