Review of The Cheat (1915) by David R — 10 Oct 2007
I love Sessue Hayakawa. He plays the bad guy in "The Cheat", but women swooned over him years before Rudolph Valentino. His acting style is radically different from the melodramatic leading lady - very understated, only his expressive eyes show strong emotions.
His success in early Hollywood was a remarkable achievement of an Asian man in the racist climate of the times.
