Review of The Bulldog Breed (1960) by Harvey B — 03 Dec 2007
Comedy about the misadventures of a michevious half-wit, leading him from being a small-time sailor, to being in the navy after a series of foiled suicide attempts.
The movie started out very funny, especially the sequence of events leading up to and including the suicide attempts that went so wrong. You actually started to feel sorry for this guy.
Unfortunately, not long after this, the plot became a bit annoying, and the main character, Norman, became more and more unlikable. Following events that became too unlikely - ending with this moron being sent to on a space mission...
In the end, the movie was filled with slap-stick, silliness in the vein of the great Jerry Lewis... unfortunately, Norman didn't really have the charm of Jerry Lewis to pull it off.
