Review of The Breakfast Club (1985) by Tim M — 04 Sep 2015
This is an ICONIC film for the Brat Pack. It also accurately depicted situation for many teens in middle class schools in the 80's. Who didn't go through angst at trying to fit in, or be accepted as a teen? Who didn't get bullied or feel forced to bully someone? Deep down inside we all know we are the same.
This film is poignant, and thought provoking look at what we as a society put our children through when we teach them to look down on each other, over pressure them to achieve, ignore them, or abuse them.
..If you didn't relate to this film as a teen you must not have a heart. The themes of isolation, loneliness, and peer pressure are timeless. John Hughes was a GENIUS and directs a great cast in this classic.
