Review of The Boogey Man (1980) by Michael F — 14 May 2008
A plodding and incoherent wet blanket of a film that is heavily marred by diffident direction and a nebulous focus. The Boogeyman is buoyed somewhat by rather stylish and arresting death scenes, but is otherwise a pretty tepid snoozer.
It's even more tragic that virtuoso keyboardist Tim Krog's silky and foreboding Moog score is extremely underused here. Search the web for a rare promotional release of the film's official soundtrack and you'll find a rich and multi-layered synth experience.
