Review of The Black Cat (1941) by Jay N — 14 Jul 2009
Universal's "other" Black Cat film from their silver age of horror is actually a fun little haunted house spookfest. A group of schemeing relatives vies for the inheritence left to them as a murderer decides to speed up the process.
Rathbone, Sondergaard and Lugosi all add colour to this cast of characters while Crawford and Gwynne do the same for the film's romantic side. Also watch Hugh Herbert playing a role that seems to be written in the voice of Lou Costello.
