Review of The Bird People in China (1998) by Brian O — 04 Jul 2008
Miike departs from the ultra-violent and delves into the unexpected and magical. A painfully beautiful film that you will be sure to remember. It's hard to explain how I felt when the audience first gets a glimpse of the Da Vinci-esque wings when a woman can be seen in the misty distance, standing atop a mountain with her wings outstretched.
It's like watching a moving painting.
