Review of The Big Gay Musical (2009) by D M — 03 Jul 2010
I thought this was really going to be a musical, possibly even better than "Naked Guys Singing," but there weren't that many musical numbers. The plot was good, and the first and second musical numbers were actually very good. Unfortunately, as the movie progressed, the quality of the musical lyrics went down.
This is somewhat of a romantic comedy in which two actors in a gay musical must come to terms with their struggles: one actor is struggling to find Mr. Right while looking in the wrong places, and the other actor is having a hard time dealing with coming out to his parent. There are definitely some happy moments that made me smile and even give a little sigh as I imagined my own life and how dating can be hard in the gay community. Not a bad movie, but it is not a musical, in my opinion.
