Review of The Audrey Hepburn Story (2000) by Kim C — 22 Sep 2010
I have no idea how historically accurate this actually is, but it didn't feel very accurate. The acting was weak, or perhaps it was because the choices were very odd - JLH for Audrey?? She didn't do a bad job, exactly, as she seemed like she'd really studied Audrey and her way of speaking and mannerisms.
Except it came across studied, that's she's trying to pretend to be her, rather than she IS her. Not to mention the mother doesn't age like ever, through the whole movie, from when Audrey is a very small child to when she completes filming of Breakfast at Tiffany's.
A super young Emmy Rossum, actually, to me was the best part of the movie, somehow managing to seem the most like Audrey Hepburn and had the strongest acting of the bunch. I love Audrey, but I wasn't terribly interested and kept getting distracted but how un-genuine the whole thing felt.
There were good moments, but overall, not so great.
