Review of The Art of the Steal (2010) by Kenny M — 09 Apr 2010
A pharmacist who amassed a collection of Post-Impressionist paintings establishes the Barnes Foundation to care for the collection and educate the public. In his will, he stipulates that collection cannot be moved, loaned out, or disturbed in any way.
Over the years, various organizations manipulate the legal system in order to gain control and will their way into history after the foundation is bankrupted by less than savory means. The whole affair upsets me and the documentary attempts to traverse the same path Dr Barnes did in avoiding the Philadelphia art elite.
