Review of Thank You for Your Service (2017) by Sean P — 28 Dec 2017
I saw the movie Thank You For Service earlier this week, but was too busy that day to write anything down about it; today seems like a good day for it though. Basically it's a dramatization of the real life experiences of a group of Iraq War veterans trying to readjust to civilian life after their deployment, and I found it extremely compelling.
It's not so much critical of the military as it is the overloaded VA system, and a failure to get many veterans the care they need. It's very sympathetic without getting too heavy-handed, the acting from the leads is extremely good, and it keeps its focus squarely on its characters.
I'd recommend not watching the trailer if you're interested though, it gives a bit too much away.
