Review of Tetsuo: The Bullet Man (2010) by Trevor C — 07 Aug 2011
Like some weirdo late night anime or batshit crazy manga brought to horrible screaming life, TETSUO THE BULLET MAN only occasionally recalls the nightmarish industrial horror that the unrelenting original tortured audiences with.
Most of the time, the film settles for a lot less abstraction and more mythos building exposition. Long scenes of bad acting and moody but cheap cinematography are rampant as a perfunctory plot chugs along, broken up far too rarely with action sequences that brutally assault the eyes, ears, and brain.
This low budget but ambitious approach, along with it's gonzo cyberpunk aesthetic and grinding metal score (with includes a closing theme composed by Nine Inch Nails), make TETSUO THE BULLET MAN a no-brainer addition to Bobert's BrainRot Theatre!
