Review of Teddy Bear (2012) by Peter F — 03 Sep 2012
This Danish film (which actually has most of it's dialogue in English), has a premise that seems to have a stamp on it that immediately says "Critic Friendly" . The film's story of an aging body builder's struggles with an overprotective mother could have resulted in a very disturbing film, but despite intense moments, Teddy Bear is overall a sweet, cuddly and at times a little too simple of a film.
What is complex is Kim Kold's performance, with his red wood physique and empathetic performance being comparable to Mickey Rourke (or Matthias Schoenaerts in last year's Bullhead might be a better comparison).
If it's not a must-see, it's certainly a must-talk-about.
