Review of Tampopo (1985) by Lito B — 23 Mar 2004
The only true "noodle western" to speak of-- Tampopo is a delight to the senses. A word of warning, however, do NOT see this movie without first securing the location of the nearest, quality noodle shop! Even if you've never had a steaming bowl of ramen (not the 20 cent college student staple, but the real deal), then this movie will leave you absolutely craving it.
The story, performances, directing... even the camera work is charming, fresh, and A.D.D. enough to follow any whimsy to the delight of the audience.
One of my all-time favorites!
