Review of Take This Waltz (2011) by Joey G — 06 Jul 2012
This film is depressing. The main character, Margot, is played brilliantly by Michelle Williams. She always has this sad, dark look in her eyes, even when she's smiling. In fact, even when she's smiling you find yourself waiting for that sadness to break through her smile.
Rogen and Kirby also give great performances and while not much happens in terms of plot it is never slow or boring, it is always fresh and unique. I love the use of music in the film as well. Another great thing about the story is that you never really have any idea where it will take you, this is not a contrived tale.
The performances and unique script make this one of the best films that I have seen all year, competing with Your Sister's Sister.
