Review of Sympathy for the Underdog (1971) by Christopher J — 27 Jul 2007
When I saw this, I only knew of Fukasaku's Battle Royale. This opened a whole MANSION to me, showing that Kinji had brought us so much with his films. This is a great little piece, that flows and grooves great.
It has a great sense of plot, exposition, character, and action. Entertaining, fascinating, emotional, somber, magnificent stuff. The final showdown is also a great "Wild Bunch - Fukasaku-style" type ending.
