Review of Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance (2002) by Kevin M — 02 May 2009
The film follows Ryu, a deaf mute whose sister is very ill. Following a series of misfortunes he finds that he cannot afford a kidney transplant and therefore turns to kidnapping to raise the money. The movie depicts man's desire for revenge and the retribution which it brings.
There are many extremely violent and challenging scenes, but these are integral to the plot. The story targets the viewer's emotions and challenges your belief in humanity.
