Review of Sugar (2008) by Andrew E — 16 Jun 2009
Though it starts off slow to set the story/character up, "Sugar" is a thoughtful and realistic examination of cultural exchange's impacts on ambition and determination. The acting and script are solid, for Fleck brings another underdog story to the screen (after "Half Nelson") with appropriate care and depth.
