Review of Stonehearst Asylum (2014) by Bali R — 30 Oct 2017

Don't listen to the negative reviews! This is a truly a great victorian-era classic gothic horror - and I don't even care much for any of those genres, but Stonehearst Asylum won me over. Great location, SUPERB performance from an impressive cast with gravitas, and very engaging and absorbing cinematography.

Maybe not quite a classic, but not far off, and it certainly deserves much better reviews. I can only surmise that it didn't meet those critics' preconceived expectations (something that can easily ruin any otherwise decent movie).

But go in, as I did, without expecting anything in particular and may very will be surprised at how such a well crafted movie has slipped under the radar and isn't being talked about much more.
