Review of Starry Starry Night (2011) by Lingual T — 10 Jan 2012
An awesome piece of work. In my opinion, it is never easy to adapt a book to screen without losing the flavour and essence the author had intended. Not to mention, it was an illustration book by renowned illustrator Jimmy Liao.
Yet, director Tom was able to marry fantasy and reality and weave it so beautifully in his film. It was most dreamy journey for me sitting in the theatre watching the movie. The cast was perfect. Josie Xu was beautiful and natural even as a 13-yr old girl and enjoyed impeccable chemistry with newcomer Eric Lin.
To me, this is one of the best adapted screenplays, and definitely going to be one of my all-time favourite films too.
