Review of Stanley Ka Dabba (2011) by Prabhat R — 20 Aug 2011
A heartrending movie with a sweet premise but a melancholic undercurrent of emotions. It's amazing how a bunch of non-professional child actors could pull this off so convincingly, however, I have reservations about certain manipulative scenes, but in the grander scheme of things, they don't matter.
Partho, the lead, is hands-down the best thing about the movie. So many Indian actors could literally learn acting from him and realise the most basic truth about acting, that it is all about reacting.
The kid is so spontaneous, energetic and nothing he does or says comes out as preplanned or forced. Take a bow.
