Review of Stage Beauty (2004) by Emily G — 25 Sep 2007
I'm pretty sure this is my favorite movie. Shakespeare in Love can't touch it. The performances of Othello at the beginning and end of the movie contrast strikingly, and the journey in between is full of fascinating character development and really powerful moments.
Half the time you want to make out with Kynaston, and the other half you want to hold and comfort him like a wounded little boy. And as a thespian, if I could pick one role to play it would be that of Maria--she's brilliant.
Excellent, excellent movie.
