Review of Sorry to Bother You (2018) by Cornelia L — 15 Oct 2018
Genuinely one of the best satires I have ever seen. It is dark, troublingly relevant, and full of twists, yet it never loses it's pacing or comedic voice. One of the only satires to actually present problem and solution effectively, this movie can go down some very shocking and upsetting avenues while never quite losing a sense of hope for the future.
It's also really well written and edited, and you can feel how much this movie means to first-time director Boots Riley. It's my favorite movie I've seen all year, possibly all decade, and it really feels fresh and different from almost anything else you can see.
