Review of Something from Nothing: The Art of Rap (2012) by James E — 03 Jul 2012
Although this documentary could of had a more traditional approach in presenting the information and people interviewed does not waiver the fact that this is the best general audiences will get to understanding Hip Hop culture from the point of view of a rapper.
There is knowledge, history, wisdom, lessons, ans more that make this more of an educational experience. In my opinion, more documentaries like this should be made, and in fact they are. Bboy documentaries featuring people in other countries, sometimes third world countries bring light to something so much more powerful that a James Brown song and some neat dance moves.
Hip Hop is a beautiful culture, and this documentary that Ice-T headed is a great example of that.
