Review of Something from Nothing: The Art of Rap (2012) by Gerald N — 05 Oct 2012
Ice-T, the Original Gangster brings out the greatest revelations of the true masters of hip hop for all of it's fans. Eric B. and Rakim said "Don't Sweat the Technique" but you can't say no to Ice-T.
The Art of Rap is a complicated yet engaging documentary for any true hip hop fan so it may be difficult for the feeble minded to approach it for the first time without trepidation. But with a line up like Eminem, Nas, Royce Da 5'9", Dr.
Dre, Chuck D, Rakim, Grandmaster Caz, Afrika Bambaataa, B- Real, Lord Jamar, Immortal Technique, Kanye West, Kool Keith, KRS-One, Snoop Dogg, Big Daddy Kane, Common, Run- DMC, Ice Cube, Mos Def, Xzibit, Marley Marl, Doug E.
Fresh, Kool Moe Dee, and Melle Mel how can any hip hop fan (strike that) how can any music fan ignore this film. This isn't about the cars, the girls, or the money (so if your looking for that you shouldn't be anywhere near this) it's about the craft and how it was formed which many people may have forgotten about, which is what makes this film so great.
