Review of Solaris (2002) by Jon F — 31 Mar 2008

I was not familiar with the story when I watched this film, and I HATED Clooney going into it. This movie made me a fan of everyone involved. I thought it had a good cast, great dark contemplative feel throughout (thanks to the creepy, cathartic score), and I especially liked how they left the philosophical meaning open to interpretation at the end.

If they had tried to explain any of the subtleties in the movie it would have ruined it for me. It made it feel more like a piece of art than one director's narrow view of someone else's work.
