Kitamura works on the movie transposition of the sad, bittersweet manga Sky High; barely following the set-up and not so interested in the "softness" of the source, he goes rampant with his favourite gimmicks: lost temples, a romantic, 360 degrees villain (Takao Osawa ostensibly having a lot of fun in the part), gore, supernatural and duels.
Sure, subtelity is deadpan lost, but a version Ghost with Katana wielding lost souls is a sight to behold (from the Other Side).
