Review of Sisters of the Gion (1936) by Gordon B — 03 Dec 2008
In early mizoguchi, there is a lot of ozu in the camera work but his story telling remains similar to his later work. in other words, his films are full of mistery. for the 30s, it takes a very bold stance against geishas and takes the mystique and elegance out of their profession.
a good film but not as good as street of shame.
