Review of Sideways (2004) by Kinch K — 25 Jun 2010
One of the ultimate independent films. Miles and Jack (Giammatti and Church) are a comically mismatched pair, who share little to nothing in common and soon find themselves drowning in wine and women. Emerging from a haze of pinot noir, wistful yearnings and trepidation about the future, the two inevitably collide with reality.
The performances in this film are hysterically funny, and sometimes heartbreakingly sad. Jack and Miles are both their own types of comedy. Miles is a very dark comedy, and Jack is more of a satirical comedy.
The whole movie is just wonderful to watch and especially listen to.
