Review of Shocker (1989) by Aaron R — 06 Mar 2008
The concept of Craven's SHOCKER is grand and it was all set to be a franchise for the gang at universal. Some of the elements run a little too close to Nightmare On Elm Street but on the whole it's a novel situation.
Production and performances are suitably over the top, big jock american against big nasty bad guy. Craven simply exhausted the idea in one movie and hence no sequels. It's worth it for the soundtrack and clever ideas.
There were rumours of a remake kicking around but I think it fizzled.
