Review of Sherlock Holmes and the Deadly Necklace (1962) by Stephen M — 02 Oct 2007
This German made 1962 Sherlock Holmes film suffers from bad dubbing and a very cheap feel to it. Christopher Lee does make a good Holmes, and the scenes between him and his arch nemesis, Moriarty, are what save this fim from being really bad.
Another thing I don't understand is why the film makers see fit to set in modern day England. The Universal Holmes films did this as well, with much more success than this picture. A curiosity for Holmes buffs more than anything.
This film also has one of the worst scores ever produced for a film.
