Review of Screamers: The Hunting (2009) by Dave G — 22 Feb 2009
The original Screamers was one of the most dreadfully boring "horror/sci-fi" films I have ever seen, so I was leary about this sequel. However, as a fan of Canadian actors Gina Holden & Stephen Amell, as well as genre stalwart Lance Henriksen, I figured I'd try it.
I was pleasantly surprised - this isn't nearly as bad as some of the other reviews have stated, and you don't even have to suffer through the original to understand what's going on here. You've got a group of people who arrive on a barren planet to rescue a handful of humans, only to be sliced, diced, eviscerated and splattered by the mechanical monsters known as Screamers.
Recommended for horror/sci-fi fans who don't take these movies too seriously.
