Review of Scotland, PA (2001) by Chris V — 14 Feb 2008
Scotland, PA: Special Edition (2002): "We're not bad people, Mac. We're just under-achievers who have to make up for lost time." - Pat.
The McBeth's, a young couple, are caught in dead-end jobs at a run-down food joint. Filled with ideas, Joe 'Mac" McBeth just needs a break, but there's none in sight as the store is run by a tight-fisted owner.
Wait, all is not lost. There's a good woman at Mac's side who screws up his courage and after a messy evening at work, the cafe is theirs.
Lieutenant McDuff (Christopher Walken) doggedly works the case (listening to self-help and affirmation tapes between interviews) and that's enough to slowly catalyze the guilt in Joe's heart.
A torturous, inexorable march toward disaster.
Sweet.
"Oh, this is Tommy." - Donald.
